Train Details & Facilities

  • A small church with a white exterior and a red roof, with a sign that says "Bienvenidos Señor de la Caña." A train with blue and white cars is passing by on the left side. Mountain range with snow-capped peaks is in the background under cloudy skies.

A Contemporary Icon on the Andes

Striking against the vast Peruvian highlands, the Andean Explorer introduces a fresh expression of luxury rail travel in South America. Its deep blue carriages move with quiet confidence across the plateau, while inside, the design leans into a calm, modern sensibility, earth-toned interiors layered with alpaca textures, leather accents, and subtle references to local culture. The presence of the Chakana cross appears throughout, quietly anchoring the experience in Andean heritage.

  • View of a mountain landscape reflected in a body of water, with a partially visible dark stone or brick structure on the left side.

    The Landscapes Along the Way

The journey unfolds through a series of striking contrasts. The still waters of Lake Titicaca bring a sense of calm, while the floating communities of the Uros Islands reveal an enduring connection between people and place. Between Puno and Cusco, vibrant stops like La Raya Market introduce color and local character, before the route continues toward Arequipa, known for its volcanic stone architecture and rich culinary traditions.

  • Interior of a restaurant with tables, red chairs, wine glasses, framed pictures on the wall, and large windows showing a view of mountains and a river outside.

    Dining on Board

Dining takes place in the Llama dining car and Muña dining car, where the atmosphere is refined yet relaxed. Interiors combine muted tones with handcrafted details, creating an intimate setting for meals that highlight Peru’s diverse ingredients and regional influences.

  • A cozy living room with beige walls and ceiling, decorated with patterned cushions on seating, a small table with a pink flower in a pot, and large windows allowing natural light to fill the space.

    The Lounge Experience

The Maca Lounge Car serves as the social heart of the train. Anchored by a grand piano, the space naturally draws guests together—whether for live music in the evening or quiet conversation over a well-crafted drink.

  • A person sitting on a porch looking out over green fields and distant mountains, wearing a wide-brimmed hat and dark clothing, with ornate black wrought iron porch railing and decorative trim in the foreground.

    Observation & Open-Air Views

At the rear, the Observation Car offers a more immersive connection to the landscape. Its open deck invites you to step outside, take in the crisp Andean air, and watch the scenery unfold without interruption.

  • A cozy bedroom with cream-colored walls decorated with circular mirrors. There is a large window with a view of mountains and fields, a bed with white bedding and a rolled towel, and a tray with candles and flowers on a white bedspread.

    A Spa Above the Clouds

The Picaflor Spa Car introduces a restorative element to the journey. Treatments are designed with altitude in mind, combining local botanicals and therapeutic techniques to ease the body and restore balance as the train continues its path through the Andes.
